Dying to Meet You by Kate Klise

I.B. Grumply, a children’s book author, moves into a Victorian mansion in Ghastly, IL to write a new book and meets with some unusual obstacles. He finds an 11-year-old boy and a ghost already there. Of course Grumply doesn’t believe in real ghosts, so he blames the boy and his cat for all the ghostly deeds. Will Grumply become a believer, or will the ghost have the last laugh?

  1. This book is about an author named Mr.Grumply renting a house for peace and quiet. He does not like children, but there is an abandoned boy, Seymour, living there. It also turns out there is another "thing" living there. They all form a happy family, and together they finish writing Mr.Grumply's ghost story. This is an easy read, but has a wonderful plot.

  2. Dying to Meet You was about a grumpy man named Mr.Grumply renting a house to finish writing his story with peace and quiet. The house he rented had a ghost who lived in it. Also a cat named Shadow and a little boy named Seymour. Mr.Mrumply does not like Seymour or the ghost. The book is very exciting because all of the characters write letters back and forth. There is much more so you should read it.

  3. one of the best books I ever read!!! When Mr.Grumply rents a house for the summer to write his new book he finds out a ghost is still living there. he does not believe in ghosts but he soon believes when the ghost starts helping him out. he meets other somebodies along the way. I would recommend for a good quick ghost story.

Dying to meet you is the best book ever .I just love it its so interesting how Seymour is in a haunted house but in a good way .Olive is the ghost who is haunted the house .when Seymour was born Olive pledged that she would never leave him. And she kept her promise.

  9. I think Dying to meet you is a great book and I highly recommend it. The story takes place in 43 Old Cemetery Rd. I.B. Grumply , a children’s book writer ,moves into a house to complete his new book but finds out on arrival he must baby sit Seymour and his cat Shadow , who live in the cupola of the house , with Olive. However Grumply doesn’t believe in Olive because it is unrealistic so Olive tries to make him believe. This is a very exciting book and is written in the form of documents, notes and newspaper. 10. The story I read this summer, Dying to meet you, is about a man who needs a quiet place to write the new book in his series. He rents a house that is supposedly empty but a boy, ghost and a cat are living there. The man does not like it because he has to share the house. He can never get his work done because the other people in the house bother him.

I think all kids should read this book because it is a fun read and it tells people that at first if you do not like something, if you try they may become your best friend or it will become your favorite thing to do. Dying to meet you is a book I really liked.

  11. The Nutmeg book I read was called "Dying to Meet You", by Kate Klise. The story is about a man called Ignatius B. Grumply who wants to finish writing his book. He wants to rent a house to be in peace when he writes. Ignatius B. rents a two-story mansion house on 43 old Cemetery Road in Ghastly, Illinois. When Mr. Grumply gets there he meets Seymour and his cat Shadow. Ignatius isn’t happy about that. There are slamming doors, piano playing, and loud music in the house. Ignatius thinks it’s Seymour, but he didn’t do anything! When Seymour starts to talk about Olive (a ghost), Mr. Grumply is mad. He thinks that Seymour is telling jokes but he isn’t. At the end of the story Ignatius believes in Olive, and everyone gets alone, Seymour helps to illustrate the book, and everyone helps to raise money to buy the house.
I liked this book because half of the story was letters sent to each other. I think Kate Klise should write a second book on the 43 Cemetery Road!

    1. During the summer the Nutmeg book that I read was called "Dying to meet you", by Kate Klise. The story takes place in a two-story mansion on 43 Old Cemetery Road in Ghastly,Illinois. The main characters are Seymour, Olive (the ghost) and Mr.Grumply. Mr.Grumply is an author who needs to finish the next book in his series,so he rents a house thinking he'll get some peace and quiet. Instead,he meets two unexpected guests-Seymour,a ditched child and Olive, a friendly little ghost. In the middle of the story story Mr.Grumply still has a big case of writer’s block. He doesn’t believe the lies he thinks Seymour has been telling and still can’t deal with the sudden piano playing, feet stamping, and mysterious conversation sounds made by Olive. When Mr.Grumply finally meets Olive he believes in her, and actually likes her. The end of the story ends by all of them working on the book together and Olive and Mr.Grumply “hanging out”.
I really liked the plot of the story because if ghosts were real the humor, romance, and friendship would tie together just like the book.
