Herbert's Wormhole by Peter Nelson
Alex is forced to spend the day at his super geeky next door neighbor Herbert’s house. When one of Herbert’s inventions sends them through a wormhole 100 years in the future, they must save the world from squidlike aliens.
The book I read was Herbert’s Wormhole. I like this book because Alex, who seems to have no brains, Herbert who invents a lot of things, and Sammi, who is very skilled in many things, find a way to make a wormhole that transports them into the future. The wormhole is crazy because they have to go down a slide on Alex’s jungle gym (which he didn’t want because it was for 5-year-olds). My favorite parts are when GOR-DON keeps getting called silly names like Gorgonzola and Alex gets his memory taken away and asks what a video game is a lot.
